The most common reason for this issue is the firewall or antivirus blocking the connection. On most computers there is no need to make any firewall configuration. If your browser is correctly navigating to https://share.getcloudapp.com/dashboard, then CloudApp for Windows should be able to use the same connection.
You can test this by visiting https://share.getcloudapp.com/dashboard
If your connection is not successful, you'll see a message like this:

Whitelist CloudApp in your antivirus software:
- Go into your antivirus software (McAfee, Norton, etc) and look for a section that lets you whitelist the CloudApp app located at C:\Program Files(x86)\CloudApp\CloudApp.exe
- Whitelist the App located at C:\Program Files (x86)\CloudApp\CloudApp.exe on your firewall.
